Favorite aspect of cheerleading: I love seeing schools at UCA Summer Camp bonding and becoming a true TEAM! Not only are they increasing their skills and learning new material to bring back to their school... they are also bonding together as a true TEAM and building lasting memories and friendships!
Advice: Be consistent and organized. Set your expectations up front and follow through. Keep yourself educated on cheerleading safety and trends. Most importantly, remember that you will have a huge and lasting impact on all of your cheerleaders.

Favorite aspect of cheerleading: My favorite aspect of cheerleading can truly be seen in the teams that take the traditional role of a 'cheerleader' and work hard to promote school spirit, enjoy cheering on their team, and serve as ambassadors at their schools. I love teams who enjoy rooting on their team at games but also show true athleticism thru their skills.
Advice: The thing I remember most about my high school cheerleading experience was not necessarily our successes thru trophies and medals, but that my coaches went out of their way to make cheerleading more than just that. They were constantly going above and beyond by planning different experiences for us that were always teaching us life skills and lessons that I have applied since then in everyday life situations. I challenge coaches to make cheerleading an experience that not only trains great athletes, but builds good character at the same time.

I also love to see a coach that gives their team a good foundation by teaching them the basics of cheerleading. I value coaches who stress stunt progression and safety. I love to see teams that are talented but don't lose focus on the aspects of cheerleading like sharp motions and beautiful toe touch. To all coaches I stress safety thru constantly education themselves about the most current cheerleading rules and regulations.

Favorite aspect of cheerleading: There are so many wonderful aspects about cheerleading. However, my favorite part of cheerleading would be watching the cheerleaders bond and become "one" strong team at a UCA camp. Cheerleading is a about having fun, staying positive, and building memories that will last for a lifetime.
Advice:: My advice would be to cherish EVERY moment of these experiences and try not to sweat the small stuff! As a coach, these kids look to you for guidance and you are their role model. You have a chance to make a difference in their lives. Also, don't forget that WE are here for YOU!
