Cheer for the Kids Championship

Last month, UCA and UDA gave back to those in need by hosting a cheerleading and dance competition to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation. UCA and UDA contributed by supplying the mats, judges, spotters, announcers, emergency staff and trophies. All of the proceeds collected from the weekend went straight to the Make a Wish Foundation.

The competition was held in Arlington, TN, and more than 500 cheerleaders and dancers came out to not only compete, but to help out a good cause.

During the months leading up to the competition, the squads were challenged to see who could raise the most money for the Make A Wish Foundation. The cheerleaders from Meridianville Middle School raised the most money by holding a coin drop fundraiser at their school to select a Mr. and Mrs. Meridianville. For the coin drop, the teachers selected the students and for each student selected, the cheerleaders set out a bucket for the students to drop pennies into. The boy and girl with the most pennies in their bucket were then selected as Mr. and Mrs. Meridianville. From this fundraiser alone, the cheerleaders raised over $500!
