To  be a great cheerleading team, you have to be leaders in your school and community. A few years ago, the Berlin High School cheerleading team didn’t have the confidence or knowledge to achieve these goals, and had a hard time standing out from the crowd. This continued until Sue Lanctot took over the program.

Sue Lanctot has been coaching the Berlin High School cheerleading team for five years now. Angelica Eastman, a member of the BHS cheer squad, says, “Within those five short years Sue brought our cheerleading team to the next level!”

This squad went from not being involved in their community to being. Every year they visit the elementary and middle schools in their community and read Dr. Suess with the younger children.

The Berlin cheerleading squad members are not only great leaders in their community, they also do a great job of raising school spirit by putting on some amazing pep rallies.

Angelica says, “We couldn’t have done it without our coach. She works really well with our assistant coach Melinda to create dances and perfect pyramids. She always gets up early on Saturday mornings for practice and stays late after games. We couldn’t have asked for a better coach. Thanks, Sue!”
