January's Coach of the Month
January's Coach of the Month didn't receive just one nomination, she received three nominations from the cheerleaders on her squad, which shows how much her WHOLE squad truly loves her!
This month's Coach of the Month is Chrissy Soileau from Iota High School in Iota, Louisiana. In college Chrissy was on the dance team, so when she got the position at Iota High School she knew she had her work cut out for her! She had a lot to learn about stunting, jumping and leading the crowd.
"What makes Chrissy a successful cheerleading coach is her drive to learn everything she can about cheerleading. She also does an outstanding job perfecting our motion technique, jumps, stunts and dancing skills," said Patrice LaCombe.
Even though Chrissy didn't have much cheerleading experience, Greta Lege, a member of the cheer squad says, "Chrissy has been an amazing sponsor. She stays after school to help us think of different ways to entertain the school and student body with jaw-dropping routines. With her dance experience, she's able to create remarkable routines. Our routines are so unique that many schools from around the area recognized our squad more now because of those outstanding routines. Between the entertaining routines she creates and the great pep rallies ideas she dreams up, our school now looks forward to the new performances we're planning for the next week's pep rally."
But most importantly, Chrissy taught them how to not only be a squad, but be a family as well. She never gave up on them and she never walked away from them. Erin Leger, a cheerleader at Iota says, "The Iota Bulldog cheerleaders are without a doubt one of the best squads around because of Mrs. Soileau, I know she made my Junior and Senior years the best years of cheerleading I've ever experienced."
