Melanie Radich

Melanie has been involved with cheerleading and dance for many years. And in her experience, she feels, “camp is one of the most important things that a squad can do. Camp brings a sense of closeness that not many things can do. You are around each other all day every day in a high energy situation and it makes you feel like you can accomplish anything as a team.” She adds, “That being said, the most important thing that an individual can take away from camp is a sense of belonging and a positive self-esteem.”

Melanie’s favorite camp experiences are the smiles at the end of the day from the campers who are so appreciative of what she has taught them. “The campers treat you with such great respect that it carries on into other areas of your life,” she says. For Melanie, to be a part of something so special is an amazing feeling for her.

“I truly feel that I am a better person as a result of being a cheerleader. I have learned that everyone is so unique and brings something different. I love that I’m not only teaching the campers, but I’m learning from them, too. I have become more aware of the things in life that we sometimes take for granted. There are no limits to what any of us can do, that’s what I’ve learned that from being part of such a great activity.”
