Each year, for the past 45 years, the Jerry Lewis Telethonhas helped raise money and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). This year marks their 45 year, so make sure you tune into the telethon on Sunday, August 5 through Monday, August 6.
2009 MDA Telethon Performance
During the telethon, 44 of our very own UCA/UDA Staff will be performing live onMonday, August 6 at approximately 8:00 am, Central Time Zone. Throughout the day, the staff will help entertain millions of people watching the telethon and assist in raising money for MDA. The staff will also be donating a check for $50,000.
Lauri Harris, UCA Regional Manager says, “UCA and UDA raise money throughout the year at many of their events across the country. They work alongside local cheer and dance teams to do fundraisers on behalf of MDA as well as host creative jump off competitions and other activities at competitions through the fall and spring to raise awareness and raise money for MDA. All proceeds raised through local teams and events are lumped together in one check, which is presented to MDA during our performance on the telethon on Labor Day weekend.”
Contributions to the Jerry Lewis Telethon will provide assistance with the purchase of equipment like wheelchairs and leg braces, send thousands of children to MDA summer camp and it will help support more than 200 MDA clinics across the country. Learn more about MDA.
